Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Streak Running App, LLC ("Streak," "we," "us") collects, uses and shares information when you use the Streak mobile app and the streakrun.app website (together, the "Service").

The short version: we collect what we need to record your runs and run the community features. We never sell your data. We never share health data with advertisers or use it for advertising. Other people never see the start and end of your routes. You can delete your account and data from inside the app at any time.

Information you give us

  • Account details: email address and password (passwords are stored hashed by our authentication provider; we can't see them).
  • Profile: display name, username, profile photo, header image, units, color preference and goals.
  • Optional fitness details: birth year, gender, height, weight and maximum heart rate. We use these to estimate calories and heart rate zones. You can leave them blank.
  • Content you post: run notes, ratings, photos, comments, likes, posts on group and challenge walls, and the groups and challenges you create or join.
  • Messages to us: anything you send when you contact support.

Information collected when you use Streak

  • Location: when you record a run, the app uses your device's GPS while the app is in use to map your route and measure distance and pace. We don't collect location when you aren't recording.
  • Run data: route, distance, duration, start and end times, elevation gain and splits.
  • Health data, only with your permission: on iPhone, Streak can read running workouts, workout routes and heart rate from Apple Health. On Android, Streak can read running sessions, routes and heart rate from Health Connect. If you turn on saving to Apple Health or Health Connect, Streak also writes the runs you record in Streak (the workout, distance, duration, calories and route) so they show up in your other fitness apps and devices. Reading and saving are separate permissions, and you can turn either off at any time.
  • Heart rate sensors: if you pair a Bluetooth heart rate strap or watch, the app reads your heart rate during a run.
  • Weather: when you save a run, we may look up the weather at the run's location and attach it to the run.
  • Diagnostics: if the app crashes, we may collect a crash report (device model, operating system, app version and technical details of the error). Crash reports do not include your health data or routes.

How we use information

  • To provide the Service: record and display your runs, calculate stats, run challenges and leaderboards, and power the feed, groups and walls.
  • To keep the Service secure and working, fix bugs and prevent abuse.
  • To respond to you when you contact us.
  • To comply with the law.

Health data

Data from Apple Health and Health Connect is used only to provide fitness features in Streak. We do not:

  • sell health data,
  • share health data with advertisers, ad networks or data brokers,
  • use health data for advertising, marketing or ad targeting, or
  • use health data to build profiles unrelated to the fitness features you use.

Our use of information received from Health Connect follows the Health Connect permissions policy, including its limited use requirements.

What other people can see

  • Private runs are visible only to you.
  • Public runs are visible to other Streak users. For public runs, we remove the first and last 0.3 miles of the route on our servers before anyone else can see it, so your start and finish points, like your home, aren't revealed. Short runs may show no route at all.
  • In Settings, you can hide your route map, photos, pace, notes, elevation, calories and heart rate from other people on your public runs. The route map and photo settings are enforced on our servers, so hidden routes and photos are never sent to other people's devices. The other settings hide those details in the app.
  • Your display name, username and profile photo are visible to other users. Your challenge distances appear on challenge leaderboards you join, and your runs count toward your groups' totals in group challenges.
  • Posts, comments and likes are visible to the people who can see the run, group or challenge they belong to.

How we share information

We don't sell personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run Streak, under contracts that limit their use of it to providing services to us:

  • Supabase: database, authentication and file storage.
  • Mapbox: map display. Route coordinates are sent to Mapbox to draw maps.
  • OpenWeather: weather lookups. A run's coordinates are sent to get the weather.
  • Sentry: crash reporting.
  • Apple and Google: app distribution, and payments if we offer paid features.

We may also share information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of users or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.

Advertising

Streak does not show ads today. If we add ads in the future, we will update this policy first, and health data, routes and location will still never be shared with advertisers or used to target ads.

How long we keep information

We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, runs, routes, photos, posts, comments, likes and other account data from our active systems. Some data may remain in backups for a limited time before it's overwritten, and we may keep information where the law requires it.

Your choices and rights

  • Access and correct: view and edit your profile and runs in the app.
  • Delete: delete individual runs, photos and posts, or delete your whole account in Settings.
  • Permissions: turn off location, Apple Health, Health Connect or Bluetooth access in your device settings at any time.
  • Visibility: make runs private and choose what others see on public runs.
  • Requests: depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of your data, correction or deletion. Email us and we'll respond within the time the law requires.

Security

We protect data with encryption in transit, access controls on every database table, and private storage for run photos served through short-lived links. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you if required by law.

Children

Streak is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and notify you in the app or by email before the changes take effect.
